STORO\u010c\u00cd"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Annam\u00e1ria K\u00f3nyov\u00e1<\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theologicka-revue.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2_2021_Konyova.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>PDF<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<p><strong>THE REFORMED CHURCH AND PRINCELY POWER IN THE TRANSYLVANIAN PRINCIPALITY IN THE<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>16TH \u2013 17TH CENTURY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract:<\/strong> The Calvinist Reformation had its own specific character in Transylvania during the 16th<br \/>\nand 17th centuries. The process of reformation was very narrowly connected with the process of the<br \/>\nrising independent Transylvania. These processes were started after the Battle of the Moh\u00e1cs(1526)<br \/>\nwhen the internal and international conditions allowed for the penetration the ideas of Lutheranism<br \/>\nand also the teaching of Calvinism in the 50s of the 16th century. The ideas of Calvinism were mainly<br \/>\naccepted by ethnic Hungarians. In 1564 during the synod in Nagyenyed the followers of Lutheranism<br \/>\nand Calvinism definitely separated, and the Calvinist established the first bishop, Franti\u0161ek D\u00e1vid.<br \/>\nDuring the following years the Calvinist church had to fight with the radical teaching of Unitarianism,<br \/>\nbecause many famous representatives of Calvinism accepted Unitarianism, for example Franti\u0161ek<br \/>\nD\u00e1vid or Ga\u0161p\u00e1r Heltai (who translated the Bible into Hungarian). The \u201cgolden age\u201d for the Reformed<br \/>\nchurch in Transylvania was the government of Gabriel Bethlen and Juraj I. R\u00e1k\u00f3czi. Both of them<br \/>\nwere wealthy supporters of Calvinism and established many schools (S\u00e1rospatak, Nagyenyed). In<br \/>\nthis period the Reformed church started reformation activities among the Romanian (Orthodox)<br \/>\npopulation, but with not great success.
