NE\u0160POR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SOCIOLOGICK\u00dd \u00daSTAV AKADEMIE V\u011aD \u010cESK\u00c9 REPUBLIKY<br \/>\nINSTITUTE OF SOCIOLOGY OF THE CZECH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theologicka-revue.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/web_3_4_22_Nespor.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>PDF<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE IDENTITY AND FUTURE OF THE CZECHOSLOVAK HUSSITE CHURCH: A SOCIOLOGICAL SURVEY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract:<\/strong> Historical and sociological research on the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, conducted on<br \/>\nits centenary, revealed dramatic decline and a number of internal problems of this community.<br \/>\nThis led the author to a qualitative sociological research among pastors and bishops about recent<br \/>\ntroubles, identity and future direction of their church. The research showed a significant divergence<br \/>\nof dioceses, with a rather traditionalist, inward-looking representatives preferring (modern) Hussite<br \/>\nidentity on one side, and broader spectrum of their critics striving for more open, \u201cgenerally Christian\u201d<br \/>\nattitudes on the other. At the same time, the opinions and actions of the actors are related to their<br \/>\norigins and experiences. Although the alternative stream seems to be wider now, it is not unified<br \/>\nand so far losses (including the election of the patriarch in 2021).
